BLM COMMUNITY MURALS
We believe our hope for future change starts with actions in the present. In June 2021, as a testimony to her commitment to her city and its growth, Trische’ worked with local community members and partnered with Ypsilanti city council to create a “Black Lives Matter” mural in a public park in Ypsilanti downtown. It was funded completely by private donations and sponsorships from the city.
In September 2021, the first BLM mural painted by Survivors Speak was defaced by white supremacists. Nevertheless, we wanted to approach the situation with a heart of love and optimism. We called for all volunteers to assist us repairing the mural with love and expanded our initiative to 3 other public parks in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area.
You can find our community murals at Riverside Park, Downtown Ypsilanti (on Black Lives Matter Blvd), Wheeler Park and Gallup Park.
